After following cultural education classes and registring with the Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS), the first group of 26 Somali Bantus is ready to leave the Kakuma camp in Kenya. Destination: the United States. For the Lamungu family, their new home will now be in Phoenix, Arizona. After transits in Nairobi and Brussels -and on their way there flying for the first time on a airplane-, the Lamungus discover their new life. During four months, they will be supported by a voluntary agency. But quickly, the parents will have to earn a living and learn how to make it on their own. The Lamungus are part of the first group of 12,000 Somali Bantus to resettle in the United States, the largest African refugee resettlement in the history of America.
